Just picture it: sitting out on the deck as the warm sun shines down on you, watching dolphins or drinking cocktails. Swimming in the ocean. Picnicking at the beach. The picture-perfect vacation. And where can Biloxi residents find such a trip? Ship Island Excursions, of course.
What is Ship Island Excursions?
Ship Island Excursions has two ports, one in Biloxi and one in Gulfport. This company offers scenic, local hourly cruises, as well as trips to Ship Island, which is a pristine barrier island. There, you can learn all about the area’s history—and swim or play at the beach too.
What can I do with Ship Island Excursions?
The Mississippi coast is home to gorgeous islands, waters, and beaches. You can explore them all and marvel on a ferry trip or cruise from Ship Island Excursions. Some of the options they offer are:
- A round-trip to Ship Island, where you can picnic, swim and snorkel, explore, and more;
- Private charters;
- A dolphin cruise;
- A sunset cruise, which features cocktails; and
- Book an educational trip for students or for groups.
Ship Island is closed at the moment, after some damage incurred on the island dock. It’s set to reopen this August. Until then, you can still go on a sunset or dolphin cruise!
Now, onto the planning! If you want to take a trip with Ship Island Excursions, you can find them at 1040 23rd Ave. in Gulfport, Mississippi. Their summer season operations end on August 16, and their fall season operations begin on August 16.
Wondering about hours? The Biloxi ferry will leave at 10 a.m. for Ship Island, while two Gulfport Ferries will leave for Ship Island at 9:30 a.m. at 12 p.m., every day. As for sunset cruises, they take place Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., lasting two hours. Finally, dolphin cruises run on Mondays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m., as well as on Fridays to Sundays at both 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Though we suggest booking tickets in advance to secure your spot, they may also have walk-in tickets available, depending on demand.
Right now, everyone is prioritizing the safety of the community, including Ship Island Excursions. If you decide to give them a visit, please take precautions—they’ll be doing the same to protect you. They have arranged seating to make social distancing possible, so please keep six feet apart from others and wear a mask whenever possible.
Additionally, they’ll be operating at half-capacity to make things as safe as possible. You should also wash your hands frequently and we suggest bringing hand sanitizer with you. Finally, if you have a fever or are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, please reschedule your trip.
You don’t have to cross the world to find a relaxing vacay. Ship Island Excursions can show you the beauty of our own home state, with fun day cruises and trips. Sounds like our kind of holiday!
