About the Coastal Mardi Gras Museum
Think glitz, glamour and gowns! And headdresses with plumage… and lots of sparkly masks. Those are just a few of the key pieces you’ll see when you visit the Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum.
According to the website, visitors will learn more about “the kings and queens, the krewes and the costumes, the parades and the people who make Mardi Gras a magical time of year in Coastal Mississippi.”
Let the stories and revelry of Biloxi’s longtime Mardi Gras traditions come to life with a guided tour of the museum. Anna Harris, director of the museum, recently noted that the first-ever City of Biloxi Mardi Gras Parade was on March 3, 1908. Hence, it’s the official beginning of Mardi Gras in Mississippi.
